I without an ounce of shame admit that I am not big on watching televised sports. I do however appreciate the time and effort it takes for an athlete to become the best at what they do. I would even go as far as to say that I truly respect the dedication and drive they display. This type of passion is also seen in coaches, and one such coach is Mike Krzyzewski, the coach for Duke University men’s basketball.
One morning as I prepared for work, my husband was listening to ESPN. I heard Coach K, as he is often called, say that in order to be great you have to have the “passion to prepare” and that if he ever lost that passion it would be time to hang up his hat.
I have thought over what he said and truly agree with his words. But I would take it a step further and say that some have not yet found their passion and others are fear stricken and unable to begin the pursuit of their passion. Whichever you are, in order to get going or keep it going, it will take preparation. If you are passionate enough to put in the time and energy to prepare, to practice, to implement….then perhaps you will find yourself being fulfilled and satisfied with who you are and what you do. The only thing that could top that is if your passion also was able to impact others in a positive way. The motto for today is…..Preparation + Passion = P16 your life….Hatched!
