Bondage

HA!…this is so not a fifty shades post, lol

Have you ever seen the movie Roots?  Well I have seen it a few times and recently watched a snipit of it.  The long and short of it is that Africans were kidnapped from their homeland and were now being held in the belly of a boat, all chained together.  The story although important is not the focus of this post.  Instead there was a line in the movie that was spoken and it has stuck with me for the past several days.  As I mulled over what I was going to post next, I could not come up with a single thing.  Perhaps it was because I already knew what I should be writing.  Anyway, before I lose you, a respected African character in the movie made a very simple statement , “Men that share chains are brothers.”

I am not sure what that means to you, but for me it is loaded with potential.  You could probably just about frame it any way you wanted to in order to deliver your desired message.  The message that I want to deliver is one of unity.  I know I have said it before but we as people do have a common bond…we are people.  And whether you like it or not we all impact each other in some way or another.  You may not know it but what happens to you on some level happens to me.  Take this fiscal cliff thing for example, this is something we all have to endure and endure some more. But wouldn’t making lifes tough decisions be some much easier if we realized that we are brothers/sisters.  We do not have to agree on everything, but just an ounce of respect for each other would be nice (and I am not talking politics…I am talking people).

Maybe the holidays have me feeling nostalgic, but all I want for Christmas is PEACE.  I know this is unrealistic and wishful thinking! (you don’t have to point it out….geesh).  Nevertheless, close mouths don’t get fed and I would rather ask, wish,  and pray for peace than to not ask at all.

So with that I wish you WORLD PEACE this season!

P16 is your life……HATCHED!
