Sometimes growing hurts. For my teenager this hurt is very real, not metaphorical. I mean she has pain in her knees and ankles that limits her ability to move and participate in the things that she loves most. This is so much like how I have felt many times in my life when I hurt emotionally. I have literally felt limited in what I could do or say or think. Unable to accomplish much of anything. The one thing I have learned along the way and have shared with my daughter is that the pain doesn’t last forever, especially if you make a conscience decision to not let it overtake you. Even if it lingers for a while you can learn ways to make it better, to brace yourself when it flares up, to crawl even if you can’t walk. You just have to keep pressing forward.
Growing can hurt, but don’t let it hinder. You can overcome!
