As I meditated with the intention of focusing on one thing that brings me joy (trees was the focus for the day) COVID-19 kept invading my thoughts. I did not push it away but instead gently went back to focusing on my breathing as is customary when meditating. Fighting the thought only makes it fight back even harder. But at the end of my exercise, I realized just how much my thoughts are being invaded even when I am intentionally setting time aside to step away from the chaos.
Somehow out of this came the thought that if COVID-19 is invading that much of my thinking then what am I not thinking about? My health, other people, proper sleep? I am sure the list is longer than I care to admit. Adding social distancing to the mix then I know connection is on the list too. Therefore, this is the part of the message where I issue a call to action for all of us.
Please remember, even with all that is going on, people are still experiencing life. Life has ups and downs for various reasons. There are celebrations of life beginning and ending, milestones met, and obstacles big and small. Some of these are completely unrelated to the current crisis but it doesn’t make them unimportant.
Please remember we are all in this together.
