Writing and publishing a weekly blog or vlog comes with a sense of pressure for me. I am passionate about it. Words have weight. In fact, my faith teaches me, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat it’s fruit” (NIV Bible).
So, when I sit to create, I sometimes get stuck.
Then one of the most powerful tools I have in my arsenal comes along and frees me. COLLABORATION.
Too simple. Yeah, I know it is. The simplest things are often the most powerful.
When I am stuck, getting unstuck involves 3 things:
- Collaborate don’t isolate. Most often I collaborate with my family when I am writing. My husband and kids are around for me to bounce ideas off of. Plus they will tell me the truth, even if it stinks!
- Vulnerability. Being open to help can feel vulnerable and is a stepping stone to resilience. Vulnerability can be scary and can also lead to somewhere more free and authentic.
- Time. There is no magic wand for creativity. When it flows it flows. I have found that when I am open and not closed off that the time between being stuck and unstuck is shortened.
Go collaborate (even if it is virtually or wearing a mask) and be great!
