Battle Royale or Just a Small Conflict

This past week I experienced a situation where there was an ongoing conflict. It was not serious, but it was annoying. It was annoying because I did not know that it was happening initially, and it was only happening because people had false information. Basically, gossip and rumors. To make matters worse the people involved were people that saw me almost daily. So, what did I do?

I did what I usually do. I went to the source.

I went to the source of the issue with positive intent. That is the key here. I did not go looking for a fight. I had no desire to add fuel to the fire. My goal was to clarify and inquire. They were surprised that I was bold enough to confront the situation and equally surprised that I was being nice (I am making some assumptions here based on their facial expression).

In the end, I felt better. I was able to ask them if they need something from me or have concerns, I am available. How things will go in the future only time will tell. I do know that I have established my expectations for future communication.
